Shared Records Demo Version 1.1 - Release Notes
This document describes the Shared Records Demo Version 1.1, which can be downloaded here. The ISO image is a file which can be mounted as a cd drive and installed from there.
Functionality
- Two install modes: full and minimal. Full installs the entire application onto the hard drive (the CD is still needed for the application keys). Minimal only installs and registers the required libraries and runs in "read-only" mode off the cd. This only works with a remote data store.
- Three modes for full install: Local, Remote, and Remote with Local Mirror. In "Remote with Local Mirror" mode, records and metadata will be synced between the remote and local servers both during read (e.g. retreive a record) and write (e.g. create a record) time.
Known Issues
- Local mirror of remote data is "best effort".
- Explicit caching of data in local-only mode for later synchronization is not implemented and has been disabled. To synchronize local and remote data, remote mode with local mirror should be used.
- When "Save QR Image" is checked upon record creation - the text surrounding the code is inverted (the QR code is still saved and read correctly)
- Metadata synchronization in "Remote with Local Mirror" mode will have different server timestamps on each data store.
- All preferences are disabled when running the application off the CD.
- Video camera integration may not be compatible with all drivers. (Logitech cameras with versions 8.4.7 and 8.4.8 of the drivers succeed. Version 10.x of the Logitech drivers are known to fail.) A working version of the drivers can be found here.
